remote monitoring and management of power
Many large, multi-site and remote installations where electrical
or electronic equipment is installed, increasingly requires
close control and monitoring of power consumption. This is particularly
important for equipment within cabinets, where an increase in
power consumption can result in increased temperatures and power
dissipation requirements.
Lightning
and transient overvoltage damage
Today's communications and IT systems rely heavily on sophisticated
electronic equipment and software, sensitive to any conditions
outside of their maximum operation parameters. The incidence
of natural and manmade induced voltage surge is increasing -
in one month alone, up to 72,000 lightning strikes have been
recorded in the UK - causing an estimated cost of £50
million to UK industry.
Protection
From Power Surge
Capture the lightning Strike. The first point
of the six point plan involves directing the lightning strike
to a preferred point on purpose-designed air terminals without
protection the highest point on a structure is the most likely
to attract lightning, such as antennas, microwave dishes and
their associated equipment. By correctly installing a purpose
- designed air terminal, lightning can be attracted to preferred
point. Located away from antennas and cabling.
